A big thanks to all our recent Donations!
Dear Supporter,
In partnership with the Bridgehampton Citizen Advisory Committee (C.A.C.), and Group for the East End, Bridgehampton Action Now, along with concerned residents, we have joined together to OPPOSE the Konner/Friedlander Application - which does not conform to ZONING and which will OVERDEVELOP this fragile watershed PARCEL and INTENSIFY the already IMPOSSIBLE TRAFFIC just east of the legendary Carvel, across from the BH Commons Shopping Center.
The Developer's request for a Variance to build a 27,000 sq. ft. + Equinox FITNESS COMPLEX , with even MORE DEVELOPMENT CLOSER to Kellis Creek and Pond.
Current zoning requirements on this site is for a low impact business no larger than 15,000 sq. ft. per business - THIS APPLICATION WOULD NEARLY DOUBLE THAT STANDARD!!
We the residents want this application tossed out immediately by the Southampton Town Planning and Zoning Board and STRONGLY OBJECT to any efforts by the Developers TO LOOSEN THE ZONING that has been ESTABLISHED for this site.
As you know, the SEQRA Process is in place and will require an environmental impact study. But we already know A DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SIZE will make our HORRENDOUS TRAFFIC PROBLEMs even worse with miles of backup if an EQUINOX FITNESS CENTER- a high impact business - and a multiple of other businesses are ALL built on this site across from Bridgehampton Commons.
Konner/Friedlander have already hired a lawyer to advocate to change the zoning in order to insure they get the variance to generate the dollars that no other business will for them, but Equinox.
In order to have our attorney represent the COMMUNITY’S INTEREST at the upcoming IMPACT STATEMENT HEARING we will need to pay $350 per hour - and we NEED THIS REPRESENTATION.
